Announcement of the Holberg Prize 2012

Utdeling av Holbergprisen i Håkonshallen

The Holberg International Memorial Prize 2012 and Nils Klim Prize 2012 will be announced on 29 March 2012 at 10:00 CET.

The Holberg International Memorial Prize is awarded for outstanding scholarly work in the academic fields of the arts and humanities, social science, law and theology. The prize for 2013 is NOK 4.5 million (approximately EUR 575,000/USD 775,000).

The Nils Klim Prize is awarded to a younger Nordic researcher who has made an outstanding contribution to research in the arts and humanities, social science, law or theology. The prize for 2013 is NOK 250,000 (approx. 32 000EUR /42 000USD).

Holberg International Memorial Prize is awarded annually for outstanding scholarly work in the fields of the arts and humanities, social sciences, law and theology. The prize amount is NOK 4.5 million (appr. EUR 570,000/ USD 800,000)

Holberg Prize School Project

Tora Aasland, Alisa Mujanic og Jürgen Kocka under utdelingen av førstepris i Holbergprisen i skolen 2011An important part of the objective of the Holberg Prize is to stimulate children and young people to take an interest in the arts and humanities, social sciences, law and theology. The Holberg Prize wishes to contribute to greater understanding, interest and enthusiasm for these fields. Every year students at upper secondary schools in Norway are invited to carry out a research project in cooperation with established researchers.Read more.
